La Cambusa hosts the 27th ONAV Course ceremony

The event brought together wine lovers and professionals to celebrate a demanding training journey and to reaffirm the value of wine culture in Palermo and in Sicily.

The 27th ONAV Palermo Course: a structured training programme

The course began on 21 March and guided participants through a series of fourteen weekly lessons. The programme covered key topics such as:

  • wine tasting techniques
  • wine legislation and labelling
  • basic elements of viticulture
  • analytical parameters and sensory evaluation

The training ended on 6 June with a final exam, consisting of a written test and a technical tasting of five wines. A complete and well-structured path, designed for both wine lovers and professionals wishing to deepen their knowledge of oenology with a solid and methodical approach.

Continuous professional training for our team

At La Cambusa, Continuous Professional Training is considered an essential pillar: we believe that the quality of the service we offer is closely linked to the skills and knowledge of the people who welcome our guests every day. For this reason, we are particularly pleased to see how our staff continues to grow and refine their expertise over time.

A concrete example of this commitment is the path undertaken in 2012 by the owner, Leopoldo Tardi, who obtained the certification as Wine Taster, confirming his passion for wine culture and his constant desire to learn. This year, we are equally proud to announce that Giada Perchia, a member of our team, has followed the same training route, successfully achieving the same certification.

A collaboration to promote wine culture in Sicily

The collaboration with ONAV Palermo – part of the National Organisation of Wine Tasters founded in 1951 and dedicated to training and promoting the role of the wine taster – is a valuable opportunity for La Cambusa. It allows us to actively contribute to the dissemination of wine culture and to support professional development in the oenological sector, with particular attention to Sicilian wines and producers.

We are proud to have contributed to the success of this event and we hope to continue working with ONAV on future initiatives aimed at promoting wine education and Sicilian food and wine traditions.

La Cambusa as a place of encounter between wine and cuisine

Hosting the closing ceremony of the 27th ONAV Palermo Course confirms La Cambusa’s role as a meeting place for those who love wine, cuisine and the stories that connect them. Piazza Marina, with its atmosphere between sea and garden, offers the ideal setting for events that combine training, conviviality and the flavours of Sicilian tradition.

The closing dinner of the 27th ONAV Palermo Course was a meaningful moment for La Cambusa and for all participants: a celebration of study, commitment and passion for wine. We will continue to support projects and collaborations that give space to wine education and enhance Sicilian food and wine heritage.
